- Sick Children -- CECC stocks no provisions for sick children - you will be called to pick up your child if he/she becomes ill or runs a fever. Children may return to CECC after an illness only after he or she has has been free of a fever and diarrhea for 24 hours and all other symptoms of the illness. If your child has been absent because of illness, please speak to the director before leaving with her/him. A doctor's note may be required for your child to return to the center-the director will make the final decisionas to whether or not the child can stay or return to the center.
- Medications for children should be administered by parents before their child's arrival to Day Care.
- Injuries-- While precautions are taken to help prevent accidents, childhood accidents are a normal part of growth and development as children begin testing their movements and limitations. As a partner in the care of your child, we will document any accident on an accident report, which you will receive when you pick up your child. In the event of a more serious accident, we will contact you immediately. For this reason, it is important that you keep your phone numbers updated in our files.
- Toilet Training -- see Toilet Training Policy
- Discipline -- see Discipline Policy
- We have hot lunches each day. They are provided by the New Hanover County Public Schools for our children aged 16 months through PreK. Each meal will be healthy and nutritious - menus will be available for parents to see what will be served each month. Milk and water will be served with snacks and lunch. Juice is offered only for special events.
In the case of infants, please make sure the top and bottom of bottles are dated and labeled with your child's name each day. If baby food is sent, please label the top and bottom accordingly. We supply whole milk when your child is able to drink it.
- Snacks -- CECC will provide nutritional snacks twice daily. If your child has an allergy to any food inform the Director.
- Evaluations -- Each child will be evaluated as to his or her development when he or she should be moved
- Picking up your child -- Children may be picked up directly from their rooms. We do ask, however, that parents have some form of identification with them at all times. If someone is picking up your child, please notify the Director as to the name of the person responsible, and make sure that they have proper identification. Otherwise, children will not be released.
